Trust & Safety

How Obsidia protects you

Don't take our word for it — read the policies, see the protections, then decide. Obsidia is a marketplace for fragrance buyers and sellers in the US, with payments processed by Stripe and an explicit dispute policy.

How payments work

Payments are processed by Stripe
We never touch your money. Stripe — the same processor used by Shopify, Lyft, and most modern marketplaces — holds funds and releases them to the seller after delivery and inspection. If Obsidia disappeared tomorrow, in-flight payouts would still be processed.
Funds are held before transfer
When you pay, the seller doesn't receive funds immediately. Money is held until delivery is confirmed and a 48-hour inspection window passes with no open dispute. This is a payment hold before transfer — not a third-party escrow account.
48-hour inspection window
After delivery is marked, you have 48 hours to inspect what you received and open a dispute if needed. If everything looks right, funds release to the seller automatically.

Seller protection

Sellers complete Stripe identity verification
Every seller on Obsidia passes Stripe Identity verification before they can list. That's the same KYC process used to onboard millions of online businesses. The verified badge on a seller profile means a real person attached a real ID to that account.
Disputes are objective only
Disputes are decided on documented evidence — tracking, photos, the listing — not opinion. We don't arbitrate "smells weak" or "doesn't last." Repeated false buyer claims result in suspension.
Strike system protects everyone
Sellers with multiple objective dispute losses or shipping failures accumulate strikes and are suspended at 3. This keeps the marketplace clean for buyers and protects honest sellers.

Appeals
Decisions are based on evidence and most are final. If you believe there was an error, contact support within 48h with new evidence not previously submitted and we'll conduct one additional review.
